America is on Fire #EnoughIsEnough

I am at a loss for words over the devastating events from the past week. Senseless murder from police brutality. Ongoing racism in America that has festered worse than a virus. Anger levels at a peak that is not going to diminish this time. Amid so much sorrow, there is evidence of solidarity from protests across the county and the world.

My heart is breaking watching and reading the news. I must refrain from social media because it is all someone’s opinion and rarely based on facts. Fact is racism has been in America far too long to ignore. We cannot allow the issue of racism to diminish in a news cycle in our nation. We must support each other for equal rights.

Equal means equal. Right?

It is our responsibility to make changes in our communities. Not after the protests, not after the election, not after a few community, state or federal task forces. Now.

President Barack Obama stated on Medium today “We have to mobilize awareness, and we have to organize and cast our ballots to make sure we elect candidates who will act on reform”.

I have hope for America.
