When was the last time you held a door open for someone? Better yet, when was the last time someone held a door open for you? How did that make you feel?
Kindness matters now more than ever.
Decades ago I read Deepak Chopra’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. This book changed my life and gave me the direction I was seeking at the time. It has occurred to me today just how important these powerful principles can be in our daily lives.
The Law of Giving is what resonated with me the most, especially to this day. It is the simplest of acts of kindness that give me joy.
Holding the door open for someone, a stranger, a friend.
Complimenting someone for their smile, their kindness, their good work.
Listening with intention when someone tells you a story they need to tell.
Giving the gift of time when someone is in need of help.
You see, it is the simple acts of kindness that matters in the crazy, fast paced world we now live in. Those simple acts of kindness bring us back down to earth to appreciate ourselves, others, what we have, what we don’t have.
I challenge you to try this for a week.
