I listened to Troy Oppie from Boise State Public Radio yesterday interviewing Ada County Commissioner Rod Beck. To my dismay, he stated that the GOP closed primary worked out exactly as it was intended to work. He disagreed with the notion that it “moved the needle too far to the right†which blatantly ignores the facts. Mr. Beck, let’s catch up since it is now 2024. Since 2011, Idaho’s GOP has focused on issues that were not even problems in Idaho. Here is my list:
- Banning critical race theory
- Targeting diversity, equity, inclusion
- Removing books from libraries, allowing fines & jail for librarians
- Parental freedom which allows punishes schools with $1k fine
- Schools not allowed to administer basic first aid to children
- Women’s healthcare restrictions which leads to deaths nationwide
- Pushing school vouchers which will erosion of public school system
- Expanding an anti-cannibalism law
- Attaching LGBTQ+ rights
- Holding teacher salaries hostage during budget sessions
- Backlash against higher education
- Last but not least, Idaho’s GOP still rejects the 2020 Election results
Mr. Beck, you insult Idaho’s constituents by claiming Prop 1 is too confusing. We are much smarter thank you think.
