I Let the Light In Every Day

What kind of person are you: are your blinds or curtains open during the day or do you have them closed no matter what? If it is the latter, may I ask why?

Every evening when it gets dark, I do close my blinds. Especially now when it is cold at night. The next morning when I get up, I open them enough to let light in. Once the sun has officially risen, then the blinds are open all the way to let the light in.

I cannot imagine not letting the light in nor not seeing what the day is bringing me.

When I meet people from a bigger city, they freak out if a window is open on the main or street level and if my blinds were open at all. I never grew up thinking anything of it so letting the light in is a habit of mine.

I equate the blinds open with light which for me is my daily encouragement. If it is raining, then I finish my work sooner so I can couch it with my dog, Murphy. If it is snowing, that is my cue for a hot chai midafternoon. If it is windy, wow are those leaves blowing everywhere!

I suppose I can say I take my cue from nature, eh?

This weekend I gave this some thought. What is it about the light, the world, my outside space that is my inspiration? Light for me is my day. My outside space is my environment. My inspiration is the fact that grass grows, leaves fall and leaves bud out, flowers bloom, birds sing, dogs bark. Then the sunsets or sunrises I can take in. So much out there…

I suppose I can heartily state that Boise is a great place to have your blinds open for the outside that is calling you to play!
