Goodbye to the Summer of Detours

If you live in Boise, Idaho, you may have been a bit frustrated with road closures this summer downtown. Every time I turned a corner, there was a detour sign. {sigh} My sister swears by the app Waze, but I am too lazy to get another app. This summer changed my mind.

However, the story does not end at a road sign for me. I had a few doozies happen over the summer and the result was serious soul searching the past few months. Was it a good thing? Yes, absolutely!

I realized I was unhappy with my living situation, and accepted the fact that the universe did me a favor by having to move. Mind you, I packed and moved with a fractured left foot. In three weeks! But that is how much I wanted to get away from toxicity.

I moved to a new place that is quieter, nicer, safer, and just the right size for myself and Murphy. He has a dog door and a small yard. I have a cottage that fits all my artwork I decided to keep. I gave away other art pieces that were destined for friends that were transitioning themselves.

Because of the fractured foot, I was getting really down on myself until I realized that by not hiking daily, I was missing the exercise more than I knew. Murphy and I took it slow, especially since he had ACL surgery at the end of August. We are getting out and hiking around the rain days. My head is clearer now.

I have made a few other positive decisions about my health habits, all working so far. But they are working in the way I want them to. Taking it easy to slide into new routines.
