What I know is that I want to know more, learn more, understand more. As a result, I watch those news shows. I’m a NBC Nightly News junkie – do not call me between 5:30 and 6:00 pm! I don’t watch the mystery stuff, I watch shows that present issues we face nationally and globally.
Last night on Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, an outstanding man was featured. He is a basketball coach at a Chicago High School that is in a particularly violent neighborhood. After I watched this segment, I knew I wanted to share this.
What struck me was how this coach knew he could make a difference by the simple act of compassion. The most significant act of paying it forward is teaching and mentoring. This man gives these high school kids a purpose and at the same time, understanding that changing their surroundings will help form their goals for their future.
