I have been in a writer’s block for a few weeks now, unable to sit down and write what is on my mind. Truthfully, there are too many issues on my mind. I have had to turn that off and sit still to meditate more often. Even my walks and hikes are in silence.
It lands on injustice that America is facing. The lackadaisical attitude from the right is depressing.
Healthcare? You’re on your own.
Equality? Not important.
Diversity? Don’t need it.
Inclusion? Whites only.
Racism and Discrimination? What? Not me!
Education? Eliminate federal funding. School vouchers!
Cost of Living? It’s not that bad, right?
Housing Affordability? Not true!
Climate change? A hoax!
Government Corruption? A hoax!
Gun Violence? Can’t touch that issue (donors).
Immigration? They are “illegal”.
Immigration is what affects me the most. I grew up discriminated against just because of my Hispanic last name. Many Americans will never understand the scope of harm and lasting trauma that this sort of discrimination and racism causes. Separation of families, abducting people without due process let alone at courthouses when immigrants show up for their scheduled check ins. Immigrants that are abiding by the law to obtain their legal status.
