A Broad Statement, I Know

I know, that is a broad statement. Not all men nor women want what I meant in the graphic. But in my circles here in Idaho, it sums it succinctly.

There was a Twitter post about gun reform and all 85 replies (so far) accuse me of advocating for the government taking guns. First of all, it would be logistically impossible. So that is not an option.

However, I realized that these people were rationalizing their talking points vs facts that America has a serious gun problem.

Why should I have to examine every place I go for possible places a person with a gun could be?

Why should I have to visualize an escape route for places I visit?

Why should I have to have to live like this? Why should Americans have to even think about this?

I am not sure of any sort of specific answer, but what I do want is Congress to address how easy it is to obtain weapons in a country that experiences the trauma of shootings on a daily basis.

It is the guns. People with guns. Gun culture. And super PACs that line politicians’ pockets so that nothing ever changes in our daily lives.

Write your Senators and Congressional representatives about how you have been affected by a gun death. Write your story. Do something.

And, if they send you a boring letter acknowledging your correspondence, write to someone in Washington DC who will listen.
