Spring has arrived in Idaho with cloudy skies, rain, even snow when we least expect it. I woke up this morning at 4:37 a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep. I think the rain is a distraction, but a welcome one. I just love the sound of the rain on my metal patio roof.
I tried to go back to sleep, but recent events kept entering my head. Then, the rodeo of thoughts woke me up enough to say, what the heck, I’m getting up now. Besides, now I know I will have a good night’s sleep tonight! I could be fooling myself now that it is 4:59 a.m. but we’ll see.
For me, this spring is coming with a deep cleaning of many things.
I took out my Danish teak bookcases and replaced them with more open shelves. I was feeling hemmed in with all the wood, mostly because I have pine paneled walls in this tiny cottage. I rearranged the furniture and the result is a cozier tiny house. I am so happy with the fresh look.
I am also on social media less and less except for Instagram. Taking pictures is one of my passions, so sharing what I see in the world brings me joy. It can be the ponds at Esther Simplot Park or Veterans Park or the Hillside to Hollow trails in the Boise foothills. Or just flowers. Or the food dishes I make. And, I must mention the great apps to edit or enhance your photographs, what fun! You get the picture now, right?
Lastly, cleaning out other things or issues in my life that no longer give me the joy it once did. Doing so is the most difficult, I think. You don’t really want to get rid of it or let it go, but you have to.
Sometimes it is better to let go in order to learn that life lesson.
{sigh}
